About this Event
At SERI, we know how hard this year has been hard for our members. We have worked harder than ever to survive the pandemic which has been hugely challenging for not just our organisations, but also for us all personally as leaders. We can see that our beneficiaries need our services more than ever, but many of us have had to rebuild our impact models with ever-decreasing resources from scratch in order to continue to create the impact which we are so passionate about. We would like to finish off this year by encouraging you to take an hour or so out of your day, grab a coffee and a mince pie (or a rasher sandwich) and hear from 3 inspirational speakers on how we can stay positive, focused, and resilient as we enter a new year.
Our 3 Speakers are:
Bernard Brogan BA, MA - Business Leader & Sports Personality
Bernard is a qualified chartered accountant and holds a Master’s in Business Management and Marketing. He is the Co-Founder of PepTalk and Legacy Communications. He also holds a number of other business interests both in Ireland and abroad. He is the current President of the Irish Sport Federation and is a Board Member of Aware. Bernard has played with Dublin for over a decade, earning 7 All Ireland Medals, 13 Leinster Medals, 5 National Titles, and 4 GAA Football All-Star Awards as well as Footballer of the Year in 2010.
Joanne O’Riordan - Journalist, Activist & Public Speaker
Best recognized as one of seven living people born with Tetra-amelia syndrome, a disorder characterized by the absence of all four limbs. She was named Young Person of the Year and appears in the 2013 documentary, No Limbs No Limits. She first gained attention for skipping school to confront Taoiseach Enda Kenny about his proposed plan to reduce disability funding during his election. Though he told her he would not cut funding, upon his election, he did slash the disability budget. In April 2012, she spoke before the United Nations to address the use of technology and challenge the UN to create technology to help disabled people such as herself. Joanne is a recent graduate of Criminology in UCC under a Quercus Active Citizen scholarship and aspires to become a sports journalist, working regularly with The Irish Times and other publications on women in sport; disability and sport; racial issues in sport; and, of course, her beloved FC Barcelona. Both she and boxer Katie Taylor were named People of the Year for 2012. 3 years later, Joanne was honoured with a JCI Top Outstanding Young Person of the World Award.
Siobhan Murray BA, Dip - Psychotherapist & Award-Winning Author
Siobhan is a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist (awarded Ireland Psychotherapist of the Year 2020), Mindfulness and Master Practitioner of NLP, Certified Life Coach & Family Mediator, and a qualified Personal Trainer. Contributor on the acclaimed RTE TV Series ‘Stressed’. She is the author of the award-winning book ‘The Burnout Solution.
